I Stand Corrected

Well, well… just when I thought romanticism had died long ago along with chivalry, I was proven wrong (yay!!!). I adore the engagement story of Anonymous (kudos to her hubby) and my friend Miranda posted this on her Facebook page…

Best Marriage Proposals 2009

  1. I love all of those Marriage Proposals!! They are all so romantic, which is what I am... a TRUE romantic at heart!

Well, my husband's proposal would not make this list, but it was a good one. He was not down on one knee, but that is not the type of guy he is... if I had it to do over again, I think I would find the old fashion chivalrous guys who opens doors and such, but I have it pretty good.
We had gone ring shopping together, and had picked out a couple at two different stores that we liked, so I had a feeling something was in the works, but I didn't know he had actually gotten anything. He had it sent to his parents house in Iowa for a Christmas proposal, but his parents opened the package and his mom tried it on (yes, Wilda, you know her!). She said afterwards that she had originally planned to just set it aside, but my FIL had opened the package, so she HAD to look at it and then tried it on too. :) It was too big for her, so she knew it would be too big for me (even though he goten it the size that I was in Sept. when we were shopping), so she sent it to my then-boyfriend here in Colorado to give me before Christmas so I could have it sized correctly.
So, now for the actual proposal...
One Saturday, we went snowshoeing near Moffitt Tunnel outside Estes Park, which was pretty usual for us. We had gone about a mile and decided to find a spot in the trees to rest and have a little snack. We were sitting across from each other and he was tossing he fruit snacks (we were addicted and ate them all the time). I was getting tired of only getting them one at a time and asked for a package of my own. He tossed me a package and when I went to open it, I saw that it was already opened. Inside was a ring, tied to red shoestring( in case it was dropped - he's a planner... but it was never dropped!). I couldn't believe it! I was shocked. I jumped up (the best I could from sitting in the snow and wearing bulky clothes) and said, "Yes! Yes! Yes!" And I gave him a big hug and kiss. Then I stepped back, looked at him, and said, "Don't you have something to ask me?" So he asked and I said yes! :)

Thanks for the shout out Wilda!!! :)
